The 2nd book from the Early Years Award winner, following The Django. A modern fairy tale about the power of fear, it sees a black dog appearing outside a family's home which grows and grows the more family members see it. Only Small, the youngest of the Hope family, has the courage to face it, and as she shows no fear, it grows smaller and smaller. Eventually it becomes a normal sized dog and the family pet.
