Hong Kong - Dawn of A New Dynasty / On June 30th 1997, the symbols of the territory's sovereignty were transformed overnight. The Hong Kong flag was replaced with the bauhinia emblem of the new SAR, the Union Jack by the Chinese national flag, royal prefixes were dropped, and the crown insignia supplanted by a stretch of the Hong Kong skyline. But Hong Kong awoke on July 1st to continue with business as usual.
